This is our opportunity as a network to come together, for us to step back from the incessant pressures of the day job, to learn, to share best practice and collectively work together and support each other to face the future, whatever that may look like.
The conference will be supported with inputs from our awarding bodies and professional organisations: City & Guilds, EAL, OCR, Pearson BTEC, Royal Academy of Engineering, Autodesk, Warwick Manufacturing Group, Institute of Science & Technology, ARM Education and others.
Future Skills
- Review of Current and Future Skills Challenges that impact on sector priorities and provision.
- Local Skills Improvement Plans – what does the national picture look like, what skills do employers need (spoiler alert; Engineering and Green feature heavily).
Future Curriculum
- T Level Qualifications, current implementation issues; examples of best practice, what are the demonstrable benefits to students and employers (success case studies).
- Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) – What is the current position, issues and future plans, what challenges remain, timetable and support required.
Future Technology
- Artificial Intelligence – more than just a "buzz phrase"; what AI is about: philosophy & principles, examples of practical application in commerce and industry; design and manufacture; uses of AI in technical education, its impact on teachers and students; advice & guidance etc impact on programme design and delivery.
Professional Development
- Warwick Manufacturing Group have a Workplace Strategy involving collective of colleges and universities aimed at addressing specialist skills, development and retention issues. Could this work for you? These sessions will cover the following initiatives:
